After making the Grammy Awards her personal fiesta, British singer Adele kept the party train rolling last night at her native country’s answer to the Grammys, the annual BRIT Awards. The singer’s album 21 helped Adele garner even more accolades yesterday evening, including the prize for female solo artist as well as Album of the Year. “Nothing makes me prouder than coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the BRITs and winning album of the year,” Adele said in her acceptance speech. “I’m so proud to be British and to be flying our flag, and I’m so proud to be in the room with all of you.”.
So that the night could be properly concluded by a massive performance from Damon Albarn-led Britpop legends Blur, who accepted an award for outstanding contribution to music earlier in the evening, Adele was rushed off the stage, to which she shrugged and raised her middle finger while saying, “Can I just say then, goodbye, and I’ll see you next time round, then?”

Other winners on the night included Lana Del Rey, who won the award for International Breakthrough Act, beating out Bon Iver, Nicki Minaj, Aloe Blacc, and Foster the People. “”Without the support of everyone in the U.K., I’d be lost,” Del Rey said. Coldplay also won for British Music Group, Foo Fighters won for International Music Group and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” was honored as the British Single of the Year.

One Direction, a popular UK boy band, are just one of many UK acts honored at the BRIT Awards who may still be unfamiliar to US audiences. But these still-unknown acts, who include singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who took home the prize for male solo artist, provide a glimpse of what’s to come in the music world.Tags : 21, Adele, Aloe Blacc, Blur, Bon Iver, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Foster The People, lana del rey, Nicki Minaj, one directionPost a comment...
